Chapter President

Asha Maharaj-Lucas has been a paralegal since 1997, beginning her career in the Federal Court System in the Northern District of New Jersey. In 2004, she relocated to Tallahassee. She is a strong advocate for the paralegal profession and focuses on strengthening resources and education for those currently in the profession, while inspiring budding students to begin their career! Asha has been diligently working with the Big Bend Chapter to continue its growth and stay competitive with local paralegal associations. She is currently serving as the President of the Big Bend Chapter and has served as Vice President, and Immediate Past President, she has served on the community service committee, job bank committee, and seminar committee as well as newsletter editor for the Chapter. She serves as Committee Chair for the State Scholarship Committee. Asha received her BA in political science from Rutgers University. Her past employments included one of the largest creditor firm in the New York/New Jersey area as well as the general counsel’s office of several state agencies.

Mike, a Florida Registered Paralegal since 2008, has a bachelor’s in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida and a bachelor’s in Accounting from Flagler College. He is currently employed by the Office of the City Attorney, defending matters related to employment. Johnson, Molly ACP, FRP
Chapter Treasurer

Molly Johnson grew up in Wisconsin, but has lived in Tallahassee for 22 years. She began working in the legal field as a bookkeeper soon after she graduated from high school. Molly quickly worked her way up in the legal field and has been a paralegal for last 15 years. She attended Tallahassee Community College and received her AA Degree and AS Degree in Paralegal Studies. Molly is in good standing with the Florida Bar as a Florida Registered Paralegal and is an active member of NALA as an Advanced Certified Paralegal in Discovery Practices. She specializes in insurance defense litigation. Besides work, Molly is a busy mom of two little boys, an avid crafter, and a bookworm who enjoys the beach.

Butler, Hugh CP

Hugh Butler entered the legal field after a long career in small business. After paralegal studies at Tallahassee Community College he sat for the NALA Certified Paralegal exam, and was certified in November 2016. He currently works at the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, providing legal support to two attorneys handing the Office's Juvenile and Misdemeanor dockets. He has been active in various non-profit organizations including the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and United Way of the Big Bend.
