Chapter President’s Message
I am honored to take on the role of Chapter President for another year. My commitment to this organization remains the same. I will continue to help others and make new connections to enhance our membership by reaching out to more paralegals in the area and inform them of the chapter and the benefits of being a member. As a professional organization I would like to see our chapter work hand in hand with some of the other professionals in the Big Bend area to network and find solutions for common problems.
Last year we connected with the Tallahassee Women Lawyers and held a very successful joint meeting. We reached out to more local charities and not only made monetary donations but volunteered our time as needed. I believe this is how our chapter will become more recognized in the community.
Since I love helping people becoming a paralegal was an easy decision for me. During college I worked in the Federal courts for a judge who taught me many of the work ethics I still follow today. Working as a paralegal for the courts opened my eyes to the tremendous amount of work that happens behind the scenes during a trial. This experience solidified my career choice.
I am happy that I accepted the opportunity because the experience has been nothing like I imagined it would be. It took some time to get use to the added monthly meetings but once the meetings were added to my calendar everyday life just worked around it just like every other appointment on my calendar. I have had a wonderful time so far and I hope many of you will consider becoming a board member.
As paralegals we work hard and follow strict guidelines that keep our field professional. I look forward to working with all the current members and new members to keep our organization moving in the right direction. As our immediate past president said – Thank you for inspiring me.
